Love Affair w Denim

I have this crazy fascination with denim, specifically RAW denim. I love the way it feels, love the way it looks and love the way it transforms into jeans.

Recently I’ve take my Interests in it to a whole new level. If you you know the feeling I’m talking about, check out the following links and sites.

Strictly Demin http://strictlydenim.tumblr.com/ - Great Tumblr site with many pictures, Q&A’s and advice. The pics speak for themselves.

ABCDENIM http://blog.abcdenim.com/ - Same idea as Strictly Denim, but with a greater emphasis on Q&A’s/advice. These guys from Vancouver really know what’s up.

Rawrd Denim - http://www.rawrdenim.com/ - If you want to know about denim care, history and production, this site is the bible. Fade Friday posts are also a must see.

A.P.C. Butler http://www.apcjournal.fr/?p=51 My favourite raw denim brand, A.P.C., has a genius recycled jeans program going on. Watch the Video on the A.P.C Butler

Personally, i go at least 6 months with no wash. At the point maybe a soak or ocean clean. Freezer is also great to kill the bacteria.

The Fed's Jelly Donut Policy

David Einhorn, Founder of Greenlight Capital, is one of the most brilliant economic minds of our times. Take 10 minutes to read his latest advice to the Fed. While referencing the Simpsons, he nicely explains why raising short term interests rates, not to a high level, but to a still low level of 2 or 3%, would be much more conductive to economic growth and stability.

Goodbye MCA

Adam Yauch (Aug 6, 1964 - May 4, 2012). I never met him but he along with his 2 friends changed my life in 1994. Ill Communication gave the feeling that it was ok for a Jewish kid from the burbs to listen to hip-hop, dress like a skater and speak my mind.

Thank you MCA. You’ll be missed.

Design Students vs Business Students

Business schools need to start teaching their students the value in design and Design schools need to teach their students how to turn a profit.

How the Internet killed Baseball Card Conventions

Platform Pricing at Sports Card Conventions is a paper that was recently released by the National Bureau of Economic Research. Written by Ginger Zhe Jin of the University of Maryland and Marc Rysman of Boston University, the paper explores pricing theories of two sided markets and use the popularity of Baseball Conventions in the 80’s and 90’s as a prime example. Research shows that the internet was the main cause of the convention demise. Great read for anyone was a part of the card culture. The New York Times sums it up pretty well HERE
